Colby has been involved with racing his whole life. He started racing go-karts at the age of 10. In his first year of competition, 2002, Colby won 2 track championships and by winning both the Friday and Saturday points series and the Most Valuable Driver award at Trackside Motorsports Arena. Colby also finished the year with a 46% main event winning average.
He followed up the 2002 season with another track championship in 2003 at HWY.120 Speedway in Mooresboro, NC. Colby posted an astonishing 58% main event winning average due to his 8 feature wins in only his second full season. Colby also competed once at both Riverside Raceway Park in Cliffside, NC and Woodleaf Speedway finishing 4th and 2nd respectively.
Looking to have another great year in 2004, Colby backed up his amazing 2003 season with another track championship at Coleridge Speedway in Ramseur, NC. On top of winning multiple main events, Colby also broke the track record around the 1/5 mile dirt oval. He also competed in 5 races at Riverside Raceway Park in Cliffside, NC with 2 races being 1st place finishes.
After winning 4 track championships in three seasons, Colby ran only a select number of races in 2005 at Coleridge Speedway, Antioch Speedway, and Riverside Speedway. After sitting out the 2006 season due to a new engine rule that would have forced Colby to buy all new equipment just for that year, he ran just 3 races in 2007. While competing in three different karts and 2 different classes a main event win at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, IA was the result. Colby's win at Hawkeye Downs was in his first ever appearence at an asphalt oval.
Now Colby is in hot pursuit for a Dirt Late Model feature win and a prestigious Dirt Late Model FASTRAK series win.
